“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”
Paolo Coelho “The Alchemist”
The quote from The Alchemist is here for a reason. I recently told you my story where there was a past version of Anna Denning and a new one. What happened to me was a magical transformation, it is very similar to alchemy.

You’ve probably heard of the medieval alchemists who tried to turn metals into gold. There is another magical story about spiritual alchemy. A Buddhist monk became famous for inventing a special technique in which all of everyone’s vices, mistakes, difficulties, and problems are inhaled. They are inhaled in the form of imaginary black smoke. The monk then visualised the exhalation, imagining it turning into a healing golden light. This practice, which became known as tonglen, he taught to his students.
One of the basic models of NeuroGraphica is very similar in effect to this kind of alchemy. In this model we separate this “black smoke” from ourselves by “exhaling” it onto a sheet of paper with a marker. And then we transform it into the golden light of life with our own hands.
How many times have I drawn this algorithm? Probably thousands of times! When I was learning and teaching.
I draw it myself when I feel that the “black smoke” of problems begins to thicken. I teach it to my students to cope with life’s challenges in an “alchemical” way.
It is alchemy, but it is grounded in psychology and neuroscience. I am happy to use this method myself and pass it from hand to hand. Because our happiness is in our hands. And more often than not, all the answers are at the tip of a marker that draws the neuro lines.
