The WuXing system is the basis for traditional Chinese medicine, and has been practiced for Millennia. It’s based on the idea that each of the 5 elements, Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water has a corresponding colour, and therein lies an opportunity to apply it to your Art.

What will you need for the course?
- A4 or A5 Drawing paperPlease buy A4 or A5 drawing paper (120 gpm or above) - you can buy this in pads. My brand choice is Canson, but any good quality paper will do. Go for a smooth, not grainy finish.1
- Permanent markersFor this course I like artistic (alcohol based) markers. You can buy them online and any brand will do. They are great for drawing neurolines and also for colouring work.
Also a set of text highlighters (stabilo or steadler, for example) is always great to have. You used them in the Basics course and you can use them for this course. They are bright, happy and a good base for layering.2 - Fine-liners of various sizes (for example Micro Pens; Uni Pens)Now after finishing the Basics course I recommend buying a set of fineliners of various sizes (from 0.1 to 1 tips).
I really like Unipin. Unipin is an affordable good brand. Faber castle also does good funeliners.
Pigma Microns are fabulous but slightly more expensive.3 - Coloured pencils. You can also use highlighters or artistic markersSoft pencils are better. I like Giotto Stilnovo or Lyra pencils if you live in Europe or Prismacolor if you live in the Americas.
